Max Bader is a Senior Lecturer of Russian and Eurasian Studies at Leiden University. Before coming to Leiden University, he was a lecturer and researcher at the University of Amsterdam, the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, and the OSCE Academy, and a visiting scholar at George Washington University and the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
His research interests include political institutions, corruption, and democratization, with a focus on post-Soviet Eurasia. In recent years he has led two NWO-funded research projects about anti-corruption and human security in Ukraine. Outside academia, Bader serves as Statistical Analyst in OSCE/ODIHR election observation missions, and conducts policy evaluations for governments and intergovernmental organizations. As a member of the Committee, he hopes to be able to contribute his regional and substantive expertise to the NHC mission, especially in the Integrity and Accountability programme.
Bader received a PhD from the University of Amsterdam and completed graduate and postgraduate courses at the Free University of Berlin and Moscow State University.
