Steve Pitts

Steve Pitts began his career as a Probation Officer and Manager in London. National positions followed, including responsibilities for partnerships and prisoner resettlement. He was a founding member of the National Probation Service’s Evidence Informed Practice team. International roles have included secondment to the European Commission as a Twinning Advisor on Probation development. He later established and led the England & Wales, Prison & Probation Services International Team under the British Ministry of Justice, delivering many European multi-partner projects on effective practice research and projects in support of probation capacity building around the world. He holds a Master Degree in Organisational Behaviour from the University of London.

Now being an independent consultant on community based-justice, he plays a leading role in several global probation development and knowledge exchange initiatives and contributes regularly to the creation and strengthening of probation organisations internationally.
