Aïcha Chaghouani joined the organisation in June 2019. A recent graduate of Human Geography: Conflict Territories and Identities (MA) at the Radboud University, she specialized in civil society and democratization in the Western Balkans. She specifically looked at how local actors stand up against ethnic segregation and conducted fieldwork in Bosnia-Herzegovina. For AFEW International Aïcha contributed to a study on resilience strategies of CSOs dealing with shrinking civic space in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. During her internship at the Europe Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she mainly focused on strengthening and protecting the rule of law in Central and South-Eastern Europe.

Previously, Aïcha completed a BA in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam.
