Associação Observatório dos Recursos Naturais (ORN)
miningwatch.ptThe Observatory for Natural Resources (ORN) emerged from the informal and interdisciplinary transparency network MiningWatch Portugal (MWP). Since 2019, MWP has supported civil society, particularly communities facing the socio-environmental impacts of extractive industries, by providing open data on planned projects and analysing active and abandoned mining sites. ORN now strengthens this network and broadens its focus to wider natural resource exploitation, promoting active environmental citizenship and helping affected communities voice their concerns and shape their future.
WWF Bulgaria
wwf.bgWWF Bulgaria is a local NGO that is part of the global WWF Network. Its mission is to protect nature and address the main threats to Bulgaria’s biodiversity. The organization aims to create a future where people live in harmony with nature. WWF Bulgaria focuses on conserving, restoring, and sustainably managing natural resources in Bulgaria, as well as supporting local restoration in protected areas and key ecosystems. The organisation also works on policy, advocacy, education, awareness, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement.
Transparency International Bulgaria
transparency.bgTransparency International Bulgaria, founded in 1998, is the national chapter of the global movement against corruption. In 2023, it gained special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council. The organisation works with government, local authorities, business, academia, media and civil society to drive reforms that prevent and stop corruption while strengthening transparency, integrity and accountability. TI Bulgaria's vision is a world free of corruption, and it promotes the rule of law and ethical conduct across public and private sectors.
Air for Health Association
air4health.euAir for Health Association works to prevent and raise awareness of air pollution in Bulgaria. The organisation collaborates with medical professionals and students to improve air quality and produce scientific evidence on its harmful effects. It also advocates for national measures by highlighting the health and economic impacts of pollution to policymakers and the wider community.
BG Be Active Association
bgbeactive.orgBG Be Active's mission is to offer alternative solutions to existing urban health challenges, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the health, well-being, and civic engagement of the community. The organization works toward this mission through networking initiatives, community projects, awareness campaigns, workshops, and training in the areas of placemaking, the environment, and grassroots sports. Its aim is to bring together representatives from civil society, community activists, public authorities, and experts to collaborate and create viable solutions.
Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD)
csd.euCenter for the Study of Democracy (CSD) is a public policy institute working to advance reforms in Europe by influencing policy and civil society and"building bridges between scholars and policymakers." CSD has over 25 years of experience in fighting corruption and state capture, and strong expertise in the rule of law and fundamental rights. CSD also supports access to justice for women, especially victims of violence. It is part of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency’s FRANET network and promotes the Bulgarian Diversity Charter.

EDU PLAYGROUND is a civil society organization dedicated to empowering individuals and local communities through education, training, and the promotion of human rights and democratic values. The organization works to ensure access to social rights, foster active citizenship, and combat discrimination and exclusion, particularly for youth and marginalized communities. EDU PLAYGROUND aims to build a more inclusive, and rights-based society by creating equal opportunities for learning and participation through modern and innovative educational tools.
The Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives (BILI)
bili-bg.orgThe Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives (BILI) is a think tank that develops policies, provides expert solutions, and conducts monitoring, analysis, and advocacy in the topics of rule of law, anti-corruption, good governance, and civic education. Its main goals are to establish the rule of law in Bulgaria, promote dialogue between civil society, business, and public institutions, and support the alignment of Bulgarian law with European and International standards. BILI works to create a zero-tolerance environment for corruption and nepotism, and an active and critical civil society. This includes monitoring appointments to leadership positions in the judiciary and executive and promoting transparent and accountable governance.

IPES Institute

It challenges gender stereotypes and supports women and men in realising their full potential. Through research, education, awareness activities and social projects, it promotes transparent and inclusive democratic processes based on dialogue. Zavod Povod
povod.siZavod Povod is a key organisation in cultural and international relations development, focused on strengthening intercultural dialogue and cooperation. It represents Slovenia and its NGOs in networks such as SDG Watch Europe, the Anna Lindh Foundation, CONCORD Europe and GCAP. Its work follows the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, with a focus on gender equality, youth engagement, global education, sustainable consumption and volunteerism. The organisation is committed to advancing women's rights and aims for equal participation in society and full recognition of these rights as fundamental human rights. Povod carries out a range of activities, including grassroots campaigns and policy advocacy, to promote gender equality and support women in education, employment, decision making and personal autonomy.
Centar za mir Osijek

It promotes human rights, democratic political culture, and active citizenship, while supporting post-war community recovery and efforts to strengthen civil society, the rule of law, and sustainable peace. The organisation also engages in education, international cooperation, and research to advance a society grounded in dignity, dialogue, solidarity, and respect for nature.

Udruga PaRiter

PaRiter's goals include supporting the women’s movement, advancing equal participation, encouraging civic activism, strengthening local democracy and fostering a multicultural community where citizens can influence social processes.
SOS Rijeka
sos-rijeka.orgSOS Rijeka, founded in 1991, is the oldest association supporting victims of violence in Rijeka. It is a feminist, non-violent and non-governmental organisation that offers psychosocial, legal and other forms of help to adult victims of family violence. SOS Rijeka uses their experience and expertise for preventive and educational work and the promotion of positive social change. Its goals are to support victims, prevent violence and strengthen awareness of human rights while encouraging volunteering and active participation in the community.
Arabic Cultural Centre
centrulculturalarab.comThe Arabic Cultural Centre in Sibiu is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organisation that promotes the human rights and social and cultural integration of immigrants and refugees in Romania. It supports intercultural dialogue and works to counter discrimination against Arab communities. Guided by the European Union’s values of human rights, diversity, solidarity and secularism, the Centre aims to build an inclusive and tolerant community where migrants from the Middle East and other non-European countries can thrive as active citizens.
Independent Midwives Association (AMI)
moasele.roThe Independent Midwives Association (AMI) stands by women in their choices regarding their own bodies. For the past ten years, AMI has supported women, mothers, children, and families, both from Romania and refugees from Ukraine. The organisation is dedicated to improving access to midwifery care for women and families in Romania and to strengthening and promoting the midwifery profession, actively contributing to the health and well-being of the community. With professionalism, empathy, and perseverance, it builds a network of trust and support for each woman at key moments in her life. AMI's mission is to ensure that the most vulnerable persons are prioritised in accessing the care they need.
ANAIS Association
asociatia-anais.roANAIS Association is a non-governmental organisation with over 11 years of experience promoting and defending the rights of women, children and young people. An active WAVE member in Romania, it works to improve legislation on violence against women. Its activities focus on four main areas: providing and developing social services for victims of domestic violence through its Counselling Center, education and information, advocacy, and raising awareness to prevent and combat domestic violence.
European Center for Legal Education and Research (ECLER)
ecler.orgECLER is a non-profit organisation that promotes human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Its mission is to help eliminate human rights violations in Europe through research, advocacy, education, training and community engagement. ECLER works to build a society that values dignity, equality and justice, aiming to prevent human trafficking and protect every person’s rights. Through education, advocacy and collaboration, it seeks to strengthen global resilience against exploitation.

apador.orgThe Association for the Defence of Human Rights in Romania – Helsinki Committee (APADOR-CH), is a non-governmental, non-profit organisation founded in 1990. It works to protect human rights and to restore balance whenever they are endangered or violated. It is also committed to promoting and safeguarding civil rights, civic space, and the rule of law. Its values are competence, professionalism, visibility, transparency, principles, and ethics. Its vision is to create a society in which human rights are respected, for everyone, always.
P&D Factor
popdesenvolvimento.orgP&D Factor is a non-profit organization that promotes development based on human rights, equality, and non-discrimination principles. It focuses on sustainable development and political action that put people at the centre of change. The organisation works to reduce inequalities and support vulnerable groups through advocacy, research, and trainings. P&D Factor's efforts align with major international frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals. Its work covers key areas such as education, health, gender equality, youth, migration, and civic participation. Moreover, the organization closely collaborates with other CSOs, policymakers, and international partners to make a stronger impact.
Akto – Direitos Humanos e Democracia

Akto is recognised for its independent and transparent work in advancing Human Rights, Democracy, and Peace. Its mission is to strengthen education, awareness, and meaningful participation in these areas, with the goal of inspiring civic participation and promoting human dignity to help create a more just and democratic world.
Associação Veredas da Estrela
veredasdaestrela.ptVeredas da Estrela is a community-based non-profit association founded after the 2022 wildfires that destroyed 25% of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park in central Portugal. The association works from the mountain villages of Figueiró da Serra and Freixo da Serra to restore and protect local ecosystems, making them more diverse and resilient to forest fires. Veredas da Estrela believes that only living communities that incorporate participatory practices can be guardians of living ecosystems. Therefore, they bring together people of all ages and backgrounds in a shared learning process, encouraging participatory practices that strengthen community bonds. Veredas da Estrela’s goal is to build thriving villages and living landscapes that serve as examples of sustainability for others.
PIC – Legal Center for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment
pic.siPIC is the leading environmental organisation in Slovenia. As a non-profit NGO, PIC has extensive experience in legal protection of the environment. It focuses on advocacy, public participation in environmental decisions, educating and empowering other NGOs, supporting civil initiatives, and pursuing strategic litigation cases. Its mission is to help individuals and vulnerable groups to effectively protect their fundamental rights. PIC is committed to promoting more advanced, democratic and humane solutions by strengthening civil dialogue and NGOs to ultimately involve the public in decision-making processes.
Transparency International Slovenia
transparency.siTransparency International Slovenia has actively promoted transparency, integrity and anti-corruption since 2009. As part of the global Transparency International network, the organisation focuses on preventing corruption through advocacy, education and research. It raises awareness about the importance of ethical behaviour in politics, government, business and civil society. TI Slovenia develops and implements preventive measures, monitors public attitudes towards integrity and corruption, and collaborates with authorities and civil society to strengthen anti-corruption efforts. Its key areas include whistleblower protection, oversight of public spending, transparency in the public sector, integrity in the private sector and broader awareness-raising initiatives.
Zavod Raziskovalni Inštitut 8. Marec
8marec.siThe 8th of March Institute is a feminist non-profit organisation founded in 2016 that works for systemic change through storytelling, civic initiatives and campaigns that build solidarity and challenge inequality. The organisation led the My Voice, My Choice campaign, which secured over one million signatures in support of safe and accessible abortion across Europe. It also initiated Slovenia’s #MeToo movement, resulting in the redefinition of rape under the yes means yes principle, and coordinated two successful national referendums defending public interests. Through its work, the Institute continues to advance gender equality, human rights and democratic participation.
Centar za žene žrtve rata – ROSA
czzzr.hrCentar za žene žrtve rata – ROSA (CŽŽR) is a Croatian feminist, anti-militarist, non-governmental and non-profit organisation founded in 1992. It supports women survivors of war and other forms of patriarchal violence through counselling, self-help groups, legal and humanitarian aid, and advocacy. The organisation works to end violence and discrimination against women, improve laws and policies on women’s rights, and strengthen the influence of civil society and the feminist movement. Guided by the vision of an equal society free from violence and discrimination, CŽŽR promotes peacebuilding, gender equality and women’s empowerment by confronting the past and defending women’s human rights.
Brod Ecological Society (BED)
bed.hrFounded on 19 May 1989, the Brod Ecological Society (BED) is one of Croatia’s oldest civil society organisations. Emerging from a citizens’ initiative to preserve Gajna, BED helped secure its status as a protected landscape in 1990 and continues to manage it with local authorities. The organisation has around 60 members and 40 active volunteers, promotes biodiversity, landscape conservation, cultural heritage, and participates in about 30 major projects along the Sava River. As part of national and international networks and the ICCA Consortium, BED drives advocacy, knowledge transfer, and sustainable development initiatives across Croatia.
Center for Democracy and Law Miko Tripalo (CMT)
tripalo.hrThe Centre for Democracy and Law Miko Tripalo is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-partisan organisation founded in 2003 in Zagreb by leading scholars, academics, and public figures. Named after reformer Miko Tripalo, it promotes democracy, the rule of law, and Europeanisation in Croatia. The Centre focuses on transparency in governance, judicial and electoral reform, fighting corruption, and advancing social inclusion, education, and media freedom. Through research, advocacy, and public dialogue, the Centre encourages citizen participation and helps build a fair, accountable, and democratic society grounded in human rights.
Funky Citizens
funky.ongFunky Citizens promote active citizenship, good governance, and media literacy in Romania. The organisation empowers young people and communities to influence public decision-making through research-based online tools, data-driven advocacy, and civic education. It trains networks of activists, journalists, and NGO representatives to increase transparency and accountability in public institutions. By combining technology, evidence, and public engagement, Funky Citizens enables citizens to see the impact of their participation, build civic skills, and challenge the status quo. Funky Citizens’ work strengthens democratic practices and fosters a more informed, responsible, and participatory society.
Pe Stop
pestop.orgPe Stop works to reduce period poverty in Romania and ensure that vulnerable girls and women have access to menstrual hygiene products and information. Since its founding in January 2018, the organisation has grown from distributing a few packages at Bucharest’s North Railway Station to supporting around 1600 beneficiaries monthly across urban and rural areas. Pe Stop distributes hygiene packages, organises courses on body, hygiene, consent, and advocates for laws that guarantee access to menstrual products. Pe Stop combats social exclusion, protects reproductive health, and empowers women to manage menstruation safely and with dignity.
Natura 2000 Foundation
natura2000.roThe Natura 2000 Coalition promotes the conservation of Romania’s protected areas and biodiversity, serving as a technical think-tank and a link between civil society and state institutions. Its 21 member NGOs monitor large carnivores, combat environmental crime, support ecological restoration, and advocate for sustainable development. The Coalition ensures compliance with legal frameworks, engages in national governance processes, and coordinates with the European Commission on implementing the Habitats and Birds Directives. It provides expertise, professional training, and community outreach to strengthen conservation and improve the management of protected areas across Romania.
Lespectra
lespectra.comLespectra is a feminist grassroots CSO that creates spaces where women and LGBTI+ people can connect, share, and work together to build a world based on solidarity and justice. The organisation empowers women and the LGBTI+ community in Bulgaria by raising awareness of their rights and improving access to equality. Lespectra defends civil and individual rights through campaigns, advocacy and community initiatives. Lespectra promotes activism across multiple fronts, with a strong focus on challenging far-right discourses, supporting grassroots engagement, and fostering inclusive participation in public life.
Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law
bcnl.orgThe Bulgarian Center for Not-for-Profit Law (BCNL), founded in 2001, works to create a strong framework for non-profit organisations with the goal of supporting a democratic and independent civil society. BCNL helps NGOs across Bulgaria with legal advice, training, advocacy, research, and innovative capacity-building formats to strengthen their long term sustainability. The organisation focuses on civil participation, legislation, human rights, financial sustainability, and organisational development. BCNL operates under an Affiliation Agreement with the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law.
