The Arabic Cultural Centre in Sibiu is a non-profit, non-religious and non-political organisation that promotes the human rights and social and cultural integration of immigrants and refugees in Romania. It supports intercultural dialogue and works to counter discrimination against Arab communities. Guided by the European Union’s values of human rights, diversity, solidarity and secularism, the Centre aims to build an inclusive and tolerant community where migrants from the Middle East and other non-European countries can thrive as active citizens.

About the Project

Empowering Women Immigrants from the Middle East in Romania: Personal Autonomy, Socio-economic Integration, and Cultural Identity

The project aimed to address the challenges faced by women refugees and migrants from Arab and other non-European countries in Romania. This group faces cultural barriers, discrimination and limited visibility both in the host society and within their own communities. The Centre offered a solution focused on socio-cultural integration and professional development through soft skills training, intercultural learning, and improving communication skills. The team delivered several workshops on legal rights, gender inclusion and anti-discrimination, supported community building and helped participants prepare for work. As a result, the project strengthened confidence, skills and opportunities for women navigating life in a diverse European society.
