It works to safeguard the area’s sustainable way of life and to support its role in the fight against climate change. The organisation defends the land and community from projects that threaten their future and identity. UDCB is guided by communitarian values, respect for nature and the right to civic participation and collective self determination.
About the Project
Giving Voice to Barroso: Perspectives on the Territory and New Alliances for the Civic Empowerment of Residents and the Diaspora
The project aimed to address the lack of political involvement and the absence of local perspectives, which led to top-down solutions that often fail to respond to regional problems and even place the area at risk. UDCB gathered the views of residents and the diaspora to understand how people saw the territory and the threats it faced. This ongoing project has already developed a methodology for listening tools, carried out interactive workshops and built alliances with regional stakeholders to strengthen civic engagement.
