Supporting a vibrant civil society in Europe
Centar za žene žrtve rata – ROSA
czzzr.hrCentar za žene žrtve rata – ROSA (CŽŽR) is a Croatian feminist, anti-militarist, non-governmental and non-profit organisation founded in 1992. It supports women survivors of war and other forms of patriarchal violence through counselling, self-help groups, legal and humanitarian aid, and advocacy. The organisation works to end violence and discrimination against women, improve laws and policies on women’s rights, and strengthen the influence of civil society and the feminist movement. Guided by the vision of an equal society free from violence and discrimination, CŽŽR promotes peacebuilding, gender equality and women’s empowerment by confronting the past and defending women’s human rights.
About the Project
Monitoring and Advocacy for the Recognition of Various Forms of Violence Against Refugee and Migrant Women
With this project, ROSA tackles the growing risk of human trafficking and human rights violations among refugees and asylum seekers in Croatia, with women and young girls most at risk. The project documented cases of gender-based violence, created a safe space for women to share their experiences, and produced a monitoring report outlining different forms of violence, prevention measures, and institutional responses. ROSA also developed and distributed multilingual informational materials for asylum seekers and refugees, held consultations with Croatian institutions and NGOs, and engaged with the European Network of Migrant Women to share resources and best practices. These actions strengthened the organisation’s capacity, increased awareness around the problem, and promoted collaboration across stakeholders.
