Centar za mir, nenasilje i ljudska prava – Osijek, founded in 1992, works to empower people and build structures that support a culture of nonviolence. It promotes human rights, democratic political culture, and active citizenship, while supporting post-war community recovery and efforts to strengthen civil society, the rule of law, and sustainable peace. The organisation also engages in education, international cooperation, and research to advance a society grounded in dignity, dialogue, solidarity, and respect for nature.

About the Project

Development of a methodology for monitoring court proceedings for criminal offenses with elements of corruption and the establishment of an anti-corruption network of NGOs

The project aimed to tackle corruption in Croatia by increasing transparency in judicial practice and addressing shortcomings in the judicial system. Centar za Mir analysed data from corruption-related court proceedings in several Croatian counties (2019-2024) to identify legal obstacles in sentencing, increase the transparency of the process, and highlight weaknesses in the legal system. The organisation also created a Handbook for Monitoring Court Proceedings Related to Criminal Offences Involving Elements of Corruption, which provides monitoring guidelines and tools. In addition, Centar za Mir established a CSO network to coordinate efforts and monitor judicial work more effectively. A final conference was held to present the project’s results and open space for dialogue with like-minded organisations committed to tackling corruption.
