Women's Rights
Romania

FILIA is a feminist organisation that amplifies women’s voices through community work, advocacy, activism, and research. It works to build a society where women’s rights and diverse needs are respected and everyone has equal opportunities. The organisation focuses on improving legislation on work-life balance, gender-based violence, and reproductive health, increasing women’s civic involvement, and raising public awareness about women’s rights and gender-based violence.

About the Project

Health for All

FILIA’s project tries to address the lack of reproductive and sexual health services in Romania, where access to family planning, contraception, abortion, and health screenings has become increasingly difficult in recent years. Young people are especially affected by the lack of sexual education. Civil society groups have continuously advocated for reform but face institutional resistance, limited resources and coordination. FILIA responded by forming a working coalition to exchange best practices and develop advocacy strategies. So far, the project has mapped coalition partners, reaching 11 NGOs and three individuals, and has organised three coalition meetings. FILIA is currently carrying out an advocacy campaign and will continue collaborating with coalition partners.
