Catalyst of Change
Supporting a vibrant civil society in Europe
KUD Transformator
kudtransformator.comKUD Transformator combines performing and visual arts with education and awareness-raising on social justice. It encourages the active involvement of oppressed groups in its work. The organisation includes the feminist collective Magdalene Krivopete, which creates educational performances and materials on gender inequality through interactive methods. A key focus of KUD Transformator's theatre work is long-term cooperation with local vulnerable groups. It also builds local and international partnerships to develop activist theatre that offers creative responses to social issues in civil society.
About the Project
No! to rape culture
The resurgence of attention toward sexual crimes in Slovenia highlights a pervasive rape culture, evidenced by legal analysis showing judicial leniency toward male perpetrators. While formal laws are written well, experts like prosecutors, judges, doctors and institutional workers often reproduce discriminatory views in their decision-making. With
the coalition of advocacy and activist organisations for womenʼs rights (Magdalene Krivopete), they will gather analysis and concrete court cases, which will be presented through info graphics and social media, creating a shared response and raising awareness about rape in Slovenia. By strengthening collaborations and increasing public awareness, this effort seeks to enhance the protection and promotion of women’s rights in Slovenia amid rising concerns about democratic erosion in the EU.
Publications
KUD Transformator has published a 91-page legal and social analysis of judicial and societal responses to sexual violence, written by two Slovenian law experts, accompanied by three-page key recommendations. The analysis was shared with 10 legal experts and defenders in cases of sexual violence to inform their work.
The project culminated in the formulation of 5 demands on justice in courts, coordinated by Magdalene Krivopete and redistributed by Amnesty International Slovenia.
