About the Project

Trajectories for Uniting: Battling the Anti-Gender Discourse in Bulgaria

The project aimed to address the rise of far-right and anti-gender narratives affecting LGBTQ+ people and heterosexual women, as well as the growing levels of gender-based violence in Bulgaria. Civil society organizations and activists had been struggling to unite and defend fundamental rights against these threats. The goal of the project was to create opportunities for collaboration, identification of shared challenges, and the development of collective responses. The Lespectra Foundation organized a three-day conference focused on contextualizing and countering anti-gender discourse in Bulgaria. Participants collaborated, networked, and increased their visibility, producing a report outlining common issues and joint strategies. A follow-up event was held to present and promote the report’s findings.
