Lomovera Foundation is a Bulgarian non-profit founded by photographer and psychodynamic group work specialist Vera Gotseva. The organisation promotes photography as a tool for dialogue, education and social change. It develops initiatives that raise visual literacy, support creative exchange and highlight real human stories. By combining art, education and psychology, Lomovera creates spaces for reflection and connection. Its work encourages critical thinking, emotional expression and active citizenship, while promoting empathy and respect for human rights.

About the Project

Framing Rights: A Photography Academy to Strengthen NGO Storytelling on Human Rights

Lomovera’s project aims to help grassroots civil society organisations in Bulgaria strengthen how they communicate their work and connect with citizens. Many small teams lack resources and skills, especially in visual storytelling, which reduces their reach and impact. The goals of the Photography Academy are to strengthen the communication skills of selected participating organisations by providing them with extensive training in photography, storytelling, ethics, editing, and publishing, alongside one-to-one mentoring. After the learning modules, participants will produce and run small-scale campaigns using their photos. These campaigns will directly engage citizens with issues of women’s rights, environmental justice, and anti-corruption. The project will conclude with a curated exhibition in Sofia and an evaluation workshop, improving visibility and providing lasting communication skills for the organisations.
