Catalyst of Change
Supporting a vibrant civil society in Europe
Reflorestar
reflorestar.ptReflorestar works to regenerate forests and communities through human-centred, ecological and biodiverse agroforestry projects. The organisation connects and empowers diverse actors to restore landscapes, strengthen community resilience, and support planetary regeneration. Its activities include ecological restoration, reforestation, agroecology, and the recovery of ecosystems and waterways, while balancing the needs of people and nature. Reflorestar also delivers education programmes for green jobs and organises public meetings to raise awareness and encourage active citizen participation.
About the Project
Meeting for Forests: Nurturing the network of human and environmental regeneration
Reflorestar’s project aims to address two issues: powerlessness and isolation in civic space, particularly in the face of environmental degradation and lack of resources and collaboration within civil society. It aims to restore hope and collective action by bringing citisens and civil society together through regional citizens’ assemblies and coalition building. At this stage, key achievements include several strategic meetings with partners, effective project promotion on social media, and the delivery of Regional Citizens’ Assemblies focused on forest policy and environmental regeneration. Upcoming activities include additional citizens’ assemblies and regional meetings, a photography contest on environmental regeneration, and the collective development and submission of policy recommendations to decision makers.
