Mothers who move mountains – dignity for women raising children with special needs

The project aims to address the challenges faced by mothers of children with disabilities in Romania, highlighting discriminatory attitudes from public sector workers and a lack of community support. With over 81,000 children affected, the initiative seeks to amplify these mothers’ voices, promoting dignity and community solidarity. Through their campaign RYMD intends to raise awareness through an online campaign targeting 30,000 individuals, utilising video content and social media engagement to showcase the mothers’ experiences. The project will also create safe dialogue spaces facilitated by professionals to discuss daily challenges related to education, financial support, and institutional relations. By organising focus groups and workshops, RYMD aims to foster civic engagement and influence policy changes that uphold their rights.
