Supporting a vibrant civil society in Europe
Vulgar
bevulgar.orgVulgar is a non-governmental organization for LBTQ women and non-binary people in Bucharest, Romania. Its goals are: occupying space, offering community care, creating an open and inclusive community, self-expression without judgement and integrity and transparency. About the Project
Our Lives, Our Stories: Sapphic Voices in Media
This project directly contributes to strengthening the communication capacity of grassroots CSOs in Romania by addressing the invisibility of LBTQ women and non-binary people in mainstream media. Through mentoring three journalists and offering three scholarships, the project will create in-depth, responsible reporting on women’s rights and LBTQ issues, amplifying marginalized voices and countering stigmatizing narratives. By fostering collaboration between CSOs and media professionals, the initiative improves visibility, strengthens outreach, and engages citizens in dialogue grounded in EU values of equality, human rights, and democracy, building resilience against shrinking civic space and increasing public support for fundamental rights.
