womanup.facebookWomanUp Foundation is a non-profit established in 2023 to empower women in Bulgaria through education, advocacy and cultural initiatives. The organisation works to raise awareness of gender inequalities, strengthen women’s voices in public debate, and promote intersectional approaches linking feminism with democracy, human rights and environmental justice. Its vision is a society where women’s rights are fully respected and women actively shape social, political and cultural life.
About the Project
Rights in Birth: Towards Respectful Maternity Care
This project aims to address the systemic violations of pregnant women’s rights and dignity in Bulgaria, where many women do not know their rights, where to seek support, or how to navigate medical hierarchies. As part of the project, WomanUp will strengthen its digital presence and create a permanent online library of at least 40 materials, including articles, videos and infographics with contributions from experts and medical professionals. WomanUp will also distribute posters and stickers near hospitals, engage healthcare providers, and conduct media outreach and a press briefing. The goal of these activities is to raise awareness, amplify women’s voices, promote safe maternity care, and provide a lasting public resource.
