Catalyst of Change
Supporting a vibrant civil society in Europe
Women’s Place
bedisappointing.euThe Women’s Place Foundation is a civil society organisation in Bulgaria that promotes gender equality and women’s rights. It grew out of the “Be Disappointing” campaign, which addressed gender pay discrimination. The organisation works to achieve fair pay, strengthen women’s representation in leadership, and support women’s financial independence. It also raises awareness of equality and European democratic values. The foundation aims to create a society where women have equal opportunities in politics, the economy and science.
About the Project
Equal Voices
This project addresses persistent gender pay inequality in Bulgaria, where women continue to earn less than men despite EU legislation on equal pay. The initiative builds on the “Be Disappointing” campaign, which revealed the scale of the problem by collecting more than 200 testimonies from women who experienced wage discrimination. Women’s Place transforms these stories into an ongoing communication campaign. The organisation shares testimonies through social media, visual materials and public events, and works with journalists and influencers to expand media coverage. It also runs the online campaign “Voices for Equal Pay”. These activities raise awareness, encourage women to claim their rights and strengthen public debate on equality and fair pay.
