About the Project
Advocacy for Protected Nature, One of the Fundamental Rights in the European Union
The goal of this project was to strengthen the protection of Bulgaria’s Natura 2000 sites, which face threats from harmful subsidies, conflicting policies, and business interests. WWF BG developed a low-cost monitoring tool to help civil society organisations systematically track conservation policies and their implementation. NGOs used the tool to identify and prioritise issues, improving the efficiency of the Coalition for Nature. The organisation also produced five expert position papers, several social media posts, along with infographics and fact sheets. These activities helped raise awareness and support targeted advocacy for stronger protection of habitats and species.
