8marec.siThe 8th of March Institute is a feminist non-profit organisation founded in 2016 that works for systemic change through storytelling, civic initiatives and campaigns that build solidarity and challenge inequality. The organisation led the My Voice, My Choice campaign, which secured over one million signatures in support of safe and accessible abortion across Europe. It also initiated Slovenia’s #MeToo movement, resulting in the redefinition of rape under the yes means yes principle, and coordinated two successful national referendums defending public interests. Through its work, the Institute continues to advance gender equality, human rights and democratic participation.
About the Project
Protecting Human Rights at First Workplace: WomenWorkSafe
The Inštitut 8. Marec addresses the widespread problem of sexual harassment and exploitation faced by young women in student jobs, which violates their rights and undermines values of equality and justice. The project specifically focuses on high school students, a group with low trust in democracy, aiming to build awareness and confidence. It collected online testimonials and held in-person gatherings to provide a platform for students to share experiences and highlight patterns of abuse. The project also developed a TikTok campaign in collaboration with students, ran workshops with the Romanian partner NGO Forum Apulum, and hosted press conferences and roundtables to discuss findings and promote solutions, empowering young people to advocate for their rights.
