Since the European Council gave the green light to open accession negotiations with Ukraine, the discussion has focused on the challenges ahead for the EU and Ukraine. After all, the potentially long road to accession could prove to be difficult.

It is increasingly important to look at the long-term perspective, and shift the focus to discuss the opportunities that a possible Ukrainian membership of the EU brings – making Europe safer and economically stronger.

Spread across two sessions, with a distinct geopolitical and economic perspective, this event will bring together policy makers and experts to discuss the opportunities of Ukraine in the EU.

Date:

04 March 2024

Time:

12:30-16:30

Location:

Nieuwspoort (Lange Poten 10, 2511 CL The Hague)

There is the opportunity to network between the sessions and afterwards. The working language is English.

Keynote speakers at the symposium are François Heisbourg (IISS) and H.E. Oleksandr Kubrakov (Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine).

A full programme with speakers and further information can be found here.

This event is organized by OpenDoorUkraine, RaamopRusland and the Netherlands Helsinki Committee in the context of The Russia and Eastern Europe Knowledge Alliance (REKA).
